Reviewing Maldives Tourism Act and Draft a New Act

FJS Consulting was engaged by UNDP Maldives to review the existing Maldives Tourism Act and draft a new tourism act following recommendations of the review. As part of the project, FJS reviewed and analyzed secondary data which included tourism policies, legislation that affects the tourism sector as well as conducted interviews with various stakeholders including resort and hotel operators, tour operators, relevant government ministries and departments. Following the review and consultations, FJS proposed recommendations to draft a new tourism act addressing current and future needs of the sector. A new Tourism Act was drafted upon acceptance of the recommendations by the Ministry of Tourism.
