FJS concludes the impact assessment of the Small and Medium Enterprises Loan Scheme

FJS concludes the impact assessment of the Small and Medium Enterprises Loan Scheme initiated by the Maldives Government. The scheme was implemented by the Ministry of Economic Development in collaboration with Bank of Maldives. The impact assessment included evaluation on dimensions of effectiveness, relevance, efficiency and sustainability of the SME loan scheme, and provided recommendations for improving the SME loan scheme in future rounds. As part of carrying out the assessment, FJS designed the research methodology, research instrument as well as carried out qualitative research (interviews with over 125 stakeholders including loan beneficiaries, central and local government officials, banks, SMEs) and carried out quantitative research with 355 loan beneficiaries.
